I’ve been keeping my eye out for a deal on full-frame Nikon cameras for a while now and finally found a D700 at a price that was easy to swallow. Stopped on the way home to try it out for the first time. I need to spend more time with the camera to really get used to it, as there are way more functions on this D700 than there are on my D3100. Looking forward to shooting more with it!
Any Nikon folks out there have a FX 35mm lens that they really like that doesn’t cost $500? I like using old film lenses that I can pick up for cheap.

I normally shoot with a 50mm f/1.4 AF-D which is a nice piece of glass. Nikon still makes some manual focus lenses too.

You’re making me regret returning my new D5600

My go-to lens is the 50mm 1.4G AF-S. It’s great, I’m just looking for something a little wider with autofocus. I actually have a bunch of older manual F-mount lenses, too.

If you’re near a metro area you should be able to find a good used one on craigslist. I bought this D700 used for cheap knowing it has a very high shutter actuation count. I figure if it does break, the repair cost would put me, all-in, at around the same price as a more gently used D700 would be anyway. And I would have a brand new shutter.

I’m still debating how much I want to sink into Nikon DX stuff or if I should switch to full frame. So far I’m really happy with my D5500, and I know there’s more to be had with better lenses/skill, but full frame is as tempting as it is expensive

It will happen at some point, but for now I’d rather spend the money on car parts, or saving for a house. Don’t have time to learn how to get the most out of Dslr’s anyways right now...
